... a critically acclaimed and award winning two-spirit Xicana lesbian actor, writer, director, producer and teaching artist who hails originally from the Southside barrio of San Antonio, Tejas. She received her B.A. in Drama from the University of Dallas, and an M.A. in Drama from Stanford University. But her formidable actor/artist training is also deeply rooted in the drama and comedy found in her MeXicana childhood home. The themes in her works address colonization, feminisms, traumas, ancestral memorias, gender, health, race & ethnicity, in/migration, sexuality, land & environment, and issues generally affecting two-spirit/ queer/ lesbian/ gay/ bisexual/ transgender/ womyn of color and people of color communities. She has over 20 years of professional art-making experience and has garnered Best Actress nominations and awards. Her recent film work as a writer have also won accolades and critical audience reception on the festival film circuit; such as You're Dead to Me (2014 Imagen Award Winner, Get the Life (currently playing at festivals), and Amigas with Benefits (2016 Public Media Content Fund Winner from Latino Public Broadcasting).
